Studied Alma chapter 7... a very good chapter..
In this chapter Alma the younger is 'cleansing' the church and reestablishing truths... Trying to avoid apostasy, teaching what will help the people. What helps the people more than teaching about Christ?
The big verses that really hit home for me in this one were 11-12, and 23-24..
Mostly I just glory in the atonement in these chapters. Alma tries and tries and tries to get across this happy message of salvation, of a savior, and the people just don't listen. He explains how Christ will come and feel all peoples' afflictions, pains, troubles.. to know exactly how to succor us. That through this process, Christ will become the ultimate judge of us. Knowing exactly what we've been through so we know that our judgement is just..... But also he feels our pains so that he knows how to lift us above them. He can comfort us when no one else can. That we can be assured that this trial we are going through, whatever it may be, has been conquered. It's a freeing and satisfying testimony to me in my times of need... I tend to be needy.
Then as we approach the end of the chapter, Alma bears his testimony that if we will follow his direction, we will receive these great blessings... the direction he gives is to humbly seek faith, hope, charity.. ... a great life long goal of mine.
These chapters- as Alma tries to help the people to remember their Father in Heaven have some powerful truths. As he sees the great misdeeds that are taking place in the cities of what are supposed to be the Lord's people... you can really get to know how much he cares, how powerful his personal testimony is after all that he has gone through.. I love Alma.. true conversion.
I know the scriptures are truuuuuueeeeee
